The Market District was a buzz as people went to and fro with their business. Vendors could be heard hawking their wares, consumers arguing over prices, and the sounds of animals either carrying goods or being goods themselves. So much sound, so much movement, and such a great place for a thief. It was for that reason that Ricalser was visiting it.
Lately there had been only a trickle of jobs from the Thieves' Guild, and he was in desperate need of gold. So here he was, back to a state of freelancing. It wasn't that large of a difference, but he would rather be working for the Guild. At least there missions guaranteed a massive score. Here he was lucky to get away with a handful of gold or some cheap goods. All the good stuff tended to be in stores, and he wasn't stupid enough to rob a store. So here he was hiding in an alley, waiting for a perfect target.
"Hopefully it'll be a she. At least then I can smooth talk her a bit. As long as isn't that one elven girl from last week. Her dad is probably still waiting to blast me to bits for stealing his prized sword...and seaking a quick glimpse of his daughter undressing on my way out." He said to himself with a bit of a laugh, his head filled with some more pleasant memories of that mission.

Valgoth entered the market. He was a bit short on money, and he wasn’t planning on selling anything. Valgoth was out to steal some, but not a large amount. The last thing he needed was to start up a riot and get locked up in jail. He would only take one to three coins per person, policy. This would also make him harder to be detected by the victim, since the more you take or the bigger the item is, the easier it is to be detected.
Valgoth noticed that one of the consumers purse was opened, most likely due to a current purchase. It was quite full of coin, so he was most likely an upper class citizen. Valgoth moved over to the man, and while no one was looking he took two coins, from the purse. He did so in a way that even if someone actually did see him it would have been really hard to tell weather he was stealing or he was attempting to buy something. Valgoth immediately walked off and put the coins in his robe pocket.
As Valgoth walked away he scouted out the area, looking for anyone who might be worth killing to take their goods. Luckily for everyone else he didn’t see any worth while victims, so he continued on. As he walked the streets he thought about his gear, how well it worked with his career. Who knew a white robe would be so effective in stealth. He was mistaken for a mage several times in the past. He checked everything on him his daggers, bow, arrows, hidden blade, and money. He new from experience that there were other thieves in this district. Luckily everything was still there, including his money. He continued on towards the alley Vendors was in, unknowing he was there.

Ricalser had been getting bored. There hadn't been a single good target all day, and he was almost ready to just give it up and move on. That was until he noticed a man wearing a white robe. Considering he wasn't covered in crap, and well dressed up to boot, the man had to be carrying something of worth. Of course Ricalser knew it wasn't smart to just walk up to a man and take something off him, especially with a robe on. Robes were always a pain to steal from.
Lucky for him, he had to power of transformation magic. It wasn't anything great since he had learned it through books he had stolen, but he could pull of some pretty basic things. Concentrating on the flow of magic, he felt his body tingle as he began to shrin. The transformation part was always a pain, not literally of course. Magic numbed any physical pain, but the mental stress it can cause watching yourself turn into a weasel was not something most people could stand.
Ricalser, however, was not most people. Soon where a fox once stood there was a weasel. He moved his way into the crowd, soon catching up with the white robed man. All he needed was a chance to latch on to him and bite off a purse or something.

Valgoth continued to walk on. He felt like something was following him, so he turned his head while still walking. He didn’t see anything suspicious, but he didn’t feel like taking any chances. Valgoth began to pickup some speed. He headed into an alley and turned around. He looked around a bit, but still didn’t see anything. He remained still, though and prepared his hidden blade.

Ricalser saw the man turn into an alley, but he didn't follow right away. Instead he ran past it, and through the use of some of the decay in the walls, he climbed onto the roof of the building. There he walked over to the other end of the building and climbed down so he was behind the man. Hopefully with this he was able to sneak up on the man. Weaving his way through the alley, hiding behind crates and all, he got up to behind the man.
Now there's something worth a pretty piece of gold. He thought as he noticed a dagger. There was only one chance to get it, and he was going to take it. With a jump he latched onto the man's leg, aiming straight for the holder. He did keep an eye out for a retaliation though.

Right when Ricalser made contact with Valgoths body, he immediately grabbed his two daggers in his robe and jumped up and did a front flip in the air, hoping it would nock lose what ever had latched on to him. After he landed he realized that he was up against something small. He turned around to see what it was. He had his daggers ready for what ever it was that jumped on him.

The man's movements sent Ricalser flying into the alley wall, landing headfirst onto the ground. His weasel tail hit him in the face. Luckily he wasn't really hurt, but it was annoying anyways. Quickly turning himself about, he got back onto all fours before facing the man down. Mentally, he cancelled the effects of the transformation magic, so as he ran straight towards him he began to grow larger and larger, back into the humanoid fox form. He was relying on the man being a bit to shocked by the change to react, but just in case he aimed low and fast so that he could knock the guy down with minal dagger damage.

Valgoth quickly moved backwards and jumped on the side of a building. Right when he touched the wall he pushed off with his legs. The way he lunged forwards he was going to pass over him. As he passed over head of Ricalser, he slashed at him. As he landed behind him he dashed forwards some and turned around. While he was doing this he put away his daggers and pulled out his bow. He slipped an arrow in it and aimed it at Ricalser. "Quit now thief, while you can."

Lucky for Ricalser, slashes in mid-air at a target below you going an opposite direction are not very accurate. Add in the effect of gravity, and Ricalser was on the ground safe and sound. Still on all fours, he turned around to find himself in the sights of the man's bow. He had to give the guy credit; he was good.
"Alright, you win. Not worth getting myself killed for some measly coins." He said as he stood up.
"So what are you anyway, some kind of monk? Or are you one of those crazy Assassin's Guild people?"

Valgoth continued to aim his bow at Ricalser. He knew thieves were sneaky, he wasn’t ready to let his guard down just yet. "I'm a white assassin. I belong to no guild. I steal from or kill who I wish. You better prey that I don't kill you." He said, studying Ricalser closely. Judging by his appearance he was only a petty thief. After a moment he spoke again. "You got a name?"

"No guild, heh? Yet you're an assassin? Hmm, hope the Assassin's Guild doesn't hear about you. Word on the street says that they don't like freelancers." Ricalser replied, edging himself slowly away from the guy.
He really didn't want to give his name. Ricalser had been recently getting a rep around the area, and with his name the man could track him down if he wanted. It was a simple power thing; Ricalser didn't want to give up any information.
"You can put that bow down now. I may just be a street thief, but I'm not stupid. I'm not going to attack a guy who is heavily armed."

Valgoth slowly put his bow down. He put his bow around his back and put his arrow back into his quiver. "Hmm... Assassin’s guild? They must not be too great if they can't even find me..." He said, thinking some. "Do you know anything about this assassin’s guild?" He asked. He wanted to join one, but never really could find one.

"Other than the fact that they are assassins and possibly insane, nothing. I'd suggest you ask around here though. The Market District is probably second only to the Waterfront in criminal activity, as you've seen." Ricalser replied.
He didn't keep his guard down around this guy. That would have been a stupid thing to do, so he kept on his toes. Still, it looked like that this entire situation was dissolving pretty fast. Soon he would be home free and could get back to his 'job.'

Valgoth thought for another moment. "Hmm... I may do just that...... You wouldn't happen to be apart of the Thieves Guild would you?" He asked, out of curiosity. He heard of the Thieves guild amongst the gossip, and such.

Ricalser had to restrain himself from smiling about his involvement in the Thieves Guild. One of the rules about the Thieves Guild was that you didn't talk about it unless the person was a potential recruit. And Ricalser could see this guy was no potential recruit. The Thieves Guild were not killers, and this guy was.
"Hmph, you actually believe in the Thieves' Guild? There just a myth, trust me. Tried to find them myself, and never once got a viable lead. Its a wild goose chase, a myth thieves tell to distract guards from actual investigation work."
